I debated for awhile before sitting down to type this post. I wasn't sure it was my place, not sure anyone reads this anymore, maybe I just had to get it OUT of my head and OUT of my heavy heart. (but I am not sure that will happen anytime soon)
Last Sat, June 12th to be exact (for some odd reason the majority of the neighbors in our GATED community were out of town)
This is when one of our neighbors 3yr old little boy drowned in their swimming pool.............
These neighbors were actually moving BACK to Utah at the end of this month, their house had been sold, boxes had been packed and they were just waiting for their kids to finish up school which was over on June 9th.
Ever since we moved to FL - where there is plenty of water and plenty of pools they always bring it back in your minds every summer to watch your kids around water and stress water safety.
Now I still do not know the whole story, have just heard bits and pieces.....one of our neighbors had called their church and was told that the family did NOT want to be contacted (understandable) but also one of our other neighbors was chased away when trying to offer condolensces to the family.
You always hear of this happening but I have never had it hit SO CLOSE to home literally......a neighbor I was not very close with, our kids never played together, but a bunch of the housewives in the neighborhood had gone over to her house once when she first moved here a little over 3 years ago when she was pregnant with her son that died. Our kids all rode the same buses. I will always remember when she used to ride up to the bus stop to get three of her other kids and she would have him sitting in front of her.........pale cheeks that were so rosey from the heat........sweet little boy...................gone to soon.........I wanted to just send this message out into the universe to that family and hopefully they will know that they have been in our thoughts and may that sweet little boy BEN rest in peace.......

PLEASE, PLEASE WATCH YOUR CHILDREN AROUND WATER !!
Because it doesnt matter if you live behind the gates or not .......the only one that can protect your children in YOU.

And yes I still read from time to time. I am reminded of the time I saved neighbor's child from the bottom of our pool when I was a kid I think I was all of maybe 11 or 12 yo. The neighbors had come over to swim in our pool with their young kids. (I think it was two brothers that were not more then a few years old.
My mom was going inside for the day and almost never would leave me out by the pool for someone else to watch me. But for some reason that day she DID! And it is a good thing because one of those little boys had fallen off a raft in the deep end and I saw that he was laying on the bottom of the pool 8 maybe 9 ft deep. the adults (ladies, two sisters one was the mother to the boys) were to busy talking and did not notice him missing. I said "Hey one of your kids is on the bottom!"................ Do you know NOT ONE of the adults could get to the bottom of the pool to grab him. So I went into action I dove in went right to the bottom grabbed him and pulled him to the surface and to the side where they got him out of the pool.... Luckily he was alright although he had stopped breathing and once he started breathing coughed up allot of water.... They took him to the ER to get him checked out. and all was well
Thank goodness my mother left me outside with them that day....
